Following a season with the Arizona Cardinals, nose tackle Khyiris Tonga is heading east. The 28-year-old defensive tackle is reportedly finalizing a one-year, $2.7 million contract with the New England Patriots, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Tonga, a seventh-round draft selection from BYU, began his career with the Chicago Bears in 2021 and has had a varied journey since then.

New York Giants 2025 NFL Offseason: NFLPA Report Card highlights need to part ways with Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley Missteps.
There's no better reflection of the Giants' 2024 season than the well-known moment when team owner John Mara told general manager Joe Schoen, "I’ll have a tough time sleeping if Saquon goes to Philadelphia."
Ultimately, Saquon Barkley did join the Eagles, where he rushed for over 2,000 yards and played a key role in leading the team to a Super Bowl victory. Meanwhile, the Giants endured a challenging season, with their fans left to suffer through each impressive highlight of Barkley's performances.
It wasn't merely that they allowed their star running back to leave; New York also faced the significant error of granting quarterback Daniel Jones a four-year, $160 million extension before the 2023 season.
After ten games of a dismal 2024 season, Jones was benched and subsequently released. Aside from standout rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers, very little went well for the Giants. It appears that a total rebuild is necessary for Schoen and his team, and it must begin with the quarterback position. Read on....

There are still six head coaching vacancies in the NFL, and two prominent coordinators are anticipated to attract significant attention following their surprising early playoff exit.
With the Detroit Lions eliminated from the postseason after a shocking loss to the Washington Commanders on Saturday night, offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn are now available for in-person interviews.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, both are expected to secure head coaching positions.
Additionally, offensive coordinators Kellen Moore (Philadelphia Eagles) and Kliff Kingsbury (Washington Commanders) are likely to receive increased interest as each prepares for the NFC Championship game. Read on....

Indianapolis Colts will host NFL's first regular-season game in Berlin during 2025 season
Although the 2025 NFL schedule won't be released for another four months, the league provided a preview on Wednesday of what fans can expect from the international schedule. Next season, the Indianapolis Colts will play the NFL's first regular-season game in Berlin, taking place at the Olympic Stadium.
This announcement follows the NFL's recent revelation that the Cleveland Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars, and New York Jets will serve as the host teams for the league's annual games in London. Additionally, for the first time, a regular-season game will be played in Madrid, Spain.
Since 2007, the NFL has organized at least one regular-season international game each year, with the exception of the 2020 COVID-19 season. Up until 2015, all these games took place in London at Wembley Stadium. In 2016, the league began to expand its reach by hosting a game in Mexico City and utilizing various London soccer venues, including Twickenham Stadium and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The NFL introduced games in Germany in 2022, with a match in Munich followed by another in Frankfurt in 2023. In 2024, the league further enhanced its international schedule by holding a regular-season game in Brazil. Read on....

Neither Dak Prescott nor Micah Parsons seem particularly enthusiastic about the Dallas Cowboys' choice to part ways with coach Mike McCarthy this week.
The Cowboys and McCarthy ended their relationship on Monday after contract extension talks broke down, allegedly due in part to disagreements over the duration of a new agreement. McCarthy led the team for five seasons but finished this year with a disappointing record of 7-10.
Parsons took it a step further on his podcast on Tuesday, and said he was devastated by the decision.
Parsons’ remarks on Tuesday contrasted with his previous statements during the season regarding McCarthy’s uncertain status with the team. In November, he told Yahoo Sports' Jori Epstein that he didn’t worry about decisions regarding the team's coaching staff. Read on....

The sleeper page remained inactive for the majority of Week 15. The Browns' passing game struggled significantly, and both Sincere McCormick and Zach Ertz faced injuries. Although Stone Smartt exceeded his projection (making him a viable option for the future), a performance of 5 receptions for 50 yards and no touchdowns isn't exactly a game-changing result.
QB Drake Maye at Bills (13%)
Maye's first year in the league has been a remarkable achievement, demonstrating composure and accuracy even with subpar support (the New England offensive line is an issue, and the receiving corps lacks a genuine No. 1 target). His athleticism and clever running further enhance his performance. Since taking over as the starter in Week 6, he's impressively ranked as the QB12 in total fantasy points.
QB Aaron Rodgers vs. Rams (40%)
guess it's better late than never, as Rodgers finally surpassed the 300-yard mark two weeks ago and then delivered a standout performance with 30 fantasy points last week. The Rams' defense has been vulnerable to opposing quarterbacks, allowing the ninth-highest number of QB points to their rivals.
WR Jalen McMillan at Cowboys (38%)
It's common for rookie receivers to increase their performance during the later part of the season, as they gain experience and establish trust. McMillan is a prime example of this, posting an impressive 9 receptions for 134 yards and 3 touchdowns over the last two games.
WR Rashod Bateman vs. Steelers (27%)
I recommend adding and stashing Bateman, especially looking ahead to Week 17 when he faces the vulnerable Houston secondary. Week 16 presents a tough matchup against Pittsburgh, as the Steelers defend Lamar Jackson more effectively than most teams, and Bateman had a quiet performance (2 receptions for 30 yards and no touchdowns) in their earlier encounter. The Lions were defeated in a high-scoring game against the Bills on Sunday and also lost three additional defensive players. Three more teams secured playoff spots on the same day, leaving only a few remaining openings as the NFL regular season nears its conclusion.
The Houston Texans, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Minnesota Vikings all clinched postseason berths on Sunday, even though the Steelers lost to the Philadelphia Eagles and the Vikings did not play. The Vikings then decisively defeated the Bears in one of two games on Monday night, officially concluding Week 15.
As the playoff picture begins to take shape, some teams, such as the Detroit Lions and Seattle Seahawks, might find themselves in a difficult position.
Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence underwent shoulder surgery earlier this week, as announced by head coach Doug Pederson on Wednesday. The procedure was performed to address an injury to the AC joint in his non-throwing shoulder, and he is expected to recover by spring 2025.
Lawrence was placed on injured reserve on December 4, but this was not related to his shoulder injury. He suffered a significant concussion in Week 13 after a hard hit from Houston Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair. Lawrence exited the game immediately, while Al-Shaair was ejected and later suspended for three games due to the incident. Lawrence was able to undergo surgery after passing the concussion protocol on Sunday. Read on....

Russell Wilson has secured the starting quarterback position for the Pittsburgh Steelers, surpassing Justin Fields in the competition for the role.
The Pittsburgh Steelers announced on Wednesday that Russell Wilson will serve as the team's starting quarterback for Week 1.
Wilson outperformed Justin Fields, who was brought in by the Steelers through a trade in March. He will make his debut in Atlanta during the Steelers' Week 1 matchup against the Falcons.
Tomlin mentioned that he met with both quarterbacks following Wednesday's practice to inform them of his decision—a choice he acknowledged was "difficult" due to the talents of both players.
Reflecting on the time when the Steelers added both quarterbacks to the roster, Tomlin stated that Wilson held the "pole position" for the QB1 role, but he embraced the competition between Wilson and Fields.
The 35-year-old Wilson, who struggled with a strained calf for much of training camp, participated in two preseason games, completing 10 out of 12 passes for 73 yards, without any touchdowns or interceptions. Meanwhile, Fields played in three preseason games, throwing for 199 yards and also not recording any touchdowns or interceptions. Read on....

Colin Kaepernick...NFL coach? Jim Harbaugh spoke with his former quarterback about a coaching position with the Chargers.
Colin Kaepernick and Jim Harbaugh have a history of working together, and if it were up to the head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers, the former NFL quarterback would return to the league as a member of his coaching staff.
In an interview with USA Today’s Jarrett Bell, Harbaugh mentioned that after being hired by the Chargers in January, he discussed the possibility of Kaepernick joining the team in a non-playing capacity. However, in the seven months since that conversation, no progress has been made.
One reason for the stagnation on that front is that Kaepernick is still optimistic about reviving his playing career. He hasn't played a down in the NFL since January 1, 2017.
Harbaugh and Kaepernick spent four seasons together with the San Francisco 49ers from 2011 to 2014, coinciding with the quarterback's ascent after stepping in for an injured Alex Smith. During their time together, he helped lead the franchise to Super Bowl XLVII, where they were defeated by the Baltimore Ravens, and to the NFC Championship game the following season.
“He’s one of my favorite players that I’ve ever coached,” Harbaugh said. “Love Colin.” Read on....

Coach Mike Tomlin announced that Russell Wilson will be starting in the Steelers' second preseason game.
Head coach Mike Tomlin informed reporters, including ESPN's Brooke Pryor, on Thursday that Russell Wilson will be the starting quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers in their second preseason game against the Buffalo Bills on Saturday.
Tomlin had earlier stated that Wilson was set to play after missing Pittsburgh's preseason opener against the Houston Texans due to a calf injury. If there are no setbacks in his recovery, Wilson will join the first-team offense, which is expected to be on the field for four series, depending on their performance.
"He's been a full participant [in practice], he's had a couple of really good days," Tomlin told reporters. "With each passing day, there's less of an issue. So we look forward to him participating in this home venue."
The question of who will be the Steelers' Week 1 starter between Wilson and Justin Fields has lingered throughout the offseason and into training camp. However, Tomlin indicated that Wilson is currently leading the competition, as he was listed as QB1 on the depth chart before Pittsburgh's first preseason game.
Despite this, Wilson has not been officially named the starting quarterback. Tomlin has stated that his decision will rely on game performance rather than practice. Fields has received more first-team snaps during practice due to Wilson's injury. Read on....

Potential Free Agents the Raiders Should Target Following the 2024 NFL Draft
The 2024 draft for the Las Vegas Raiders was intriguing as they seemed to prioritize value over addressing immediate needs.
One example of this is their first pick, Georgia tight end Brock Bowers, who may not directly address a significant gap in the team. Despite Dallas selecting tight end Michael Mayer in the second round last year, the Raiders couldn't resist selecting Bowers in the first round, as he was ranked second overall by the Bleacher Report Scouting Department.
Before the draft, general manager Tom Telesco made several acquisitions to address team needs, including quarterback Gardner Minshew, defensive tackle Christian Wilkins, and running back Alexander Mattison.
Following the draft, Telesco continued his efforts by signing experienced tight end Michael Gallup. With around $21.9 million in available cap space, the Raiders may still have room to make further additions to their roster.
We will explore three experienced players who are currently unsigned and should be strongly considered by the Las Vegas Raiders after the conclusion of the draft.
- Edge Yannick Ngakoue
- RB Jerick McKinnon
- CB Adoree' Jackson
Despite adding cornerback Decamerion Richardson from Mississippi State in the fourth round of the draft, the Raiders still have concerns about the depth at that position. Considering their playoff aspirations, it is always beneficial to have additional support in the secondary.
Bringing in Adoree' Jackson as a post-draft acquisition would be a logical move. Jackson has previous experience playing under defensive coordinator Patrick Graham during their time with the New York Giants. As an experienced starter, he would enhance the competition level during training camp. Read on....

The Green Bay Packers have decided to suspend Jaire Alexander after an incident where he almost made a mistake during the coin toss. As a result, Alexander will not be able to play in the upcoming game against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.
The Green Bay Packers have taken action against cornerback Jaire Alexander by placing him on the reserve/suspended list. This decision was made due to his involvement in the pregame coin toss before their recent victory over the Carolina Panthers, which was deemed as "conduct detrimental to the team."
Due to his suspension, Jaire Alexander will not be able to participate in the upcoming game against the Minnesota Vikings. This is a significant game for the Green Bay Packers as they are currently tied with the Vikings in the NFC North with a record of 7-8.
Before the coin toss last Sunday, Alexander stood alongside the Packers' three game captains, namely Aaron Jones, Quay Walker, and Eric Wilson, at midfield. He called tails and successfully won the toss. However, when communicating with referee Alex Kemp, Alexander expressed his desire to be on defense. Kemp sought clarification by asking if he meant to defer, to which Alexander confirmed with a yes.
When a team wins the coin toss, there is a common misconception among fans that they get to choose whether to kick or return to start the game, with the understanding that the opposite will happen in the second half. However, the process is a bit more nuanced. Instead of immediately deciding to kick or return, teams are actually choosing when they want the option to make that decision. If a team says "we'll receive," it simply means they are making the choice at that moment and would like to receive the ball.
It is crucial to avoid saying "we'll kick" during the coin toss because an official could interpret it as the team deciding to open the game by kicking off. In that case, the opposing team would then have the opportunity to choose to receive at the start of the second half, resulting in your team kicking off to start both halves. This is why players always say "defer" during the coin toss, as they are deferring their team's choice to the second half.
The Green Bay Packers have been changing their captains on a weekly basis, and although Jaire Alexander was not initially scheduled to be part of the Week 16 group, he mentioned that Coach LaFleur was aware that the game was taking place in his hometown.
"It's quite fitting," Alexander commented. "I don't think Coach knew that I was from Charlotte."

Other sources highlight the versatility and strength of the Philadelphia Eagles' offense, while acknowledging the impressive development of Jalen Hurts as their quarterback. The Kansas City Chiefs, led by Patrick Mahomes, are also considered strong contenders.
